Spend the night, or two, at The Grove – The Inn on Harlee in the town of Marion. Relax inside of the beautiful, 7000 square feet Victorian mansion completed in 1895, where each room is comfortably furnished and contains décor original to the house.
Your experience of The Grove will not be complete without strolling through the century-old garden or visiting the Joinery where reproduction period furniture is handcrafted and antiques are restored. Take time to check out the game chickens, and you will likely smell the smoke from the wood-burning range in the kitchen of the servants’ house. Visitors are invited to learn how to cook on the old-fashioned stove.
The Grove is one of the best documented properties in South Carolina. Follow the lives of the outstanding people who lived here; hear the unusual story of the relationships between the Montgomery family and the African Americans who served at The Grove; and examine the artifacts and photos from the Montgomery sons who participated in both World Wars. The proprietors dress in period clothing to give tours.
