Pearl Fryar Topiary Garden

Pearl Fryar is the man behind the garden with a bigger personality than his tallest topiary. He has a knack for motivating and encouraging his guests, especially children. As he gives you a tour of his 3 acre topiary garden, he doesn’t just tell you how he created the unique pieces of art by hand, he gives life lessons.

Pearl started sculpting his garden and the extra lot beside his home in Bishopville in the early 1980s. Ever since, he’s been molding and shaping topiaries, some he even rescued from the junk piles of local nurseries. What started as a hobby for Pearl turned into a dream come true. He’s become an icon in the Pee Dee Region and he hosts thousands of visitors in his garden each year. You can hear his story of hard work and success first hand when you schedule a tour of The Pearl Fryar Topiary Garden.
