The Cherry Grove Pier is known as a prime fishing pier, but it is also the birthplace of shagging, the state dance. The Pier was originally built in the 1950s, but has been hit hard by a few hurricanes. Renovations to the tackle shop were completed in 2001 to accommodate the growing number of visitors.
Some pretty large sharks have been caught off Cherry Grove Pier, including the world record 1,780 pound tiger shark. Whether you’re a dancer, fisherman, or simply an intrepid tourist, Cherry Grove Pier is a fun place to see.
