beanmarket-280x400

The Bean Market was once the largest truck auction bean market in the world! The masonry structure was built in 1936.

The Bean Market is located in the historic district of Lake City with over 60 other buildings that represent the late Victorian era. You will see elaborate brick structures with ornate designs to more simplified architecture characteristic of the Depression.

The Bean Market is a multipurpose cultural and community center at the heart of downtown Lake City. Standing just across from the Village Green on Henry Street, the historic building hosts the town’s weekly farmer’s market from spring to late fall. The building has been completely restored to offer a unique and flexible space to rent as a venue for conferences, receptions and parties, concerts, weddings and other events. The bright, spacious facility provides a versatile venue for distinctive events.

Adjacent to the Bean Market is the Jones-Carter Gallery (105 Henry Street) which has been incorporated into the Bean Market Complex. Originally used as a feed and seed company, the ca.1913 building has been renovated to house an art gallery and exhibit space. Gallery open Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Phone number is 843-374-1505.
