The Eastern SC Heritage Region is designed to provide information about distinctive cultural sites and things to do near Myrtle Beach, things to do near Florence, things to do near I-95, as well as things to do near I-20. It includes these South Carolina counties: Chesterfield, Dillon, Florence, Darlington, Georgetown, Horry, Lee, Marion, Marlboro, Williamsburg.
The themes for certified sites include African American heritage, culinary heritage, nature-based tourism, agriculture and agritourism, military history, arts or architecture of the region, as well as racing heritage. Do not miss sites include these themes, too: golf, antiques or antiquing, festivals, events, farmers' markets, the bbq trail, as well as fresh on the menu restaurants.
Sites are great attractions for visitors, get-aways, vacations, daytrips, as well as things to do near the beach or near the interstate on a rainy day.
Hop in your plane and grab some BBQ from Stanton's Fly-In BBQ! You don't have a plane?! Then try BBQ served up in an old Schoolhouse, or visit Murrells Inlet and go BBQ hopping along restaurant row. Tasty!
Across the region, you find dozens of farmers' markets. You'll find strawberries in the spring, peaches in the summer, and other fresh produce all year round. Don't forget to ask for the boiled peanuts!
